1- In January 2021: Conducting statistics based on Ministry of Planning sources, the Iraqi timber market, and foreign sources to obtain information on imported timber quantities, prices, and the potential to cultivate certain species in Iraq to reduce reliance on imports for items that can be produced locally.
2- Submitting the final report for the rehabilitation of Dibbis Forest in February 2021, prepared by Muwaffaq Mubaraka, to the Directorate of Forestry and Desertification Control.
3- In February 2021, a proposal for a scientific research project was submitted with the support of the Association and the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad, titled "Combating Desertification in Iraq by Improving the Capacity of Desertified Soils to Absorb and Store Moisture," prepared by Muwaffaq Mubaraka. The Directorate of Forestry and Desertification Control adopted the proposal's support and referred it to the Planning Department for study and deliberation.
4- The Director of the Directorate of Forestry and Desertification Control requested the President of the Association to provide advisory services for nominal daily fees to train the Directorate's staff on forest management, inventory and measurement methods, producing detailed maps, analyzing data, and developing long-term management plans to improve productive and environmental efficiency starting from 14/2/2021. Note that the Association's participation is limited to providing equipment (on loan), and the Association bears no other costs.
5- In March 2021, German journalist Ms. Birgit Svensson visited various environmental sites, such as nurseries and voluntary afforestation projects in Basra, accompanied by the President of the Association and other members in Baghdad and Basra. She wrote a report as part of a book addressing environmental conditions and figures in Iraq. 6- In April 2021, the President of the Association delivered a lecture on the online platform (Free Conference Call - FCC) in collaboration with the Forestry Department at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, and Dibbis Environmental Protection Organization, titled "Protecting Iraq's Forests from Encroachments and Rehabilitating Them." 7- Also in April 2021, tree measurement tools were designed and manufactured by the Association (Muwaffaq Mubaraka), including a diameter gauge, an inclinometer for measuring tree height, an angle gauge for estimating timber volume per hectare using various factors (1, 2, and 4), and a tree density gauge per hectare. These were created to train interested individuals, particularly personnel from the Directorate of Forestry and Desertification Control, and remain available for training anyone interested.
8- On 15/8/2021, the Association, specifically its President Muwaffaq Saleh Mubaraka and Board Member Ali Al-Saadi, was invited to participate in a meeting with the Advisory Board of the Iraqi Council of Ministers to draft a national resolution and formulate a strategic and five-year plan to combat desertification and address climate change. The Association submitted a working paper outlining its proposals and recommendations, summarizing the need for a comprehensive inventory of Iraq's natural and artificial forests, studying their conditions, and creating a strategic management plan to achieve environmental and economic goals to reduce foreign imports of all types of timber.
9- On 18/8/2021, Mr. Muwaffaq Saleh Mubaraka investigated methods for extracting eucalyptus oil from leaves and small twigs and evaluated its commercial feasibility and global prices ($60 USD per liter). Producing one liter requires only about 250 eucalyptus leaves heated with any inexpensive liquid vegetable oil using simple equipment to extract the eucalyptus oil.
10- In September 2021, Ms. Aliyah Saleh Mubaraka donated a quantity of seeds of various tree species, which were distributed to Al-Salsabil Nursery and Ali Al-Saadi Nursery for germination in the upcoming season.
11- On 20/9/2021, the applied scientific research project titled "Combating Desertification in Iraq by Improving the Capacity of Desertified Soils to Absorb and Store Moisture," prepared by Muwaffaq Mubaraka and submitted by the Association, was nominated for approval and funding by the Supreme National Committee for Combating Desertification at the Ministry of Environment.
